Has anyone tried using Kraft Mac 'n Cheese powder with GF pasta? I was thinking about trying it and called Kraft and they said there is no gluten in the mix, only in the pasta.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this yet!

Yep--you can actually buy little shakers of the cheese powder. Unfortunately, they don't make them in a "large" size, but it's handy for a small bowl of pasta or popcorn. Smile

We had this last week using Tinkyada spirals and the mix from Kraft. It was yummy!

I am eating my kraft cheesy powder with my tinky pasta as we speak and I just want to say - as a newly diagnosed celiac - GOD BLESS YOU!

My mac and cheese is just one more small comfort I won't have to go without. I never would have figured it out on my own! Thank you so much.

Seems like it would be even cheaper to buy the boxes when they go on sale (sometimes 5/$1.00 here) and throw out the noodles. Those cans of cheese powder are a little spendy for our budget. I may have to try that.

Instead of throwing out the noodles couldn't they be donated to the local schools for the Marconi /glue projects that a lot of kids make in kindergarten or 1st grade? Just a thought if you had the time. I'm sure some teacher somewhere would be happy for free noodles! Laughing

Some food pantries will take items like that (opened). I know one by us, will not, but Lexi said she is involved with on that will.

I guess you won't know until you ask Smile

If there was a king of mac n cheese, my husband would probably be it. He told me his special secret mac n cheese mix after we were married. Laughing

Hmmm, I wonder if I can fool him with the Tinky pasta... Twisted Evil

I tried buying the Kraft mac and cheese this weekend and trashed the evil gluten noodles. I used Tinkyada elbows and the Kraft cheese, and it was GREAT! It had that nuclear orange color that my kids were used to, and it tasted great. My son asked for seconds, which he never did with any of the GF mac and cheese we tried. My husband thought I was a genius! Not bad for a $.59 investment and some GF noodles. No more expensive GF mac and cheese for us!

I am still looking into donating the pasta, but I haven't found anyplace that will take the opened packages.

Hey Colleen!

Not to thread-jack, but I just noticed that you now have a name posted up for your baby-to-be...

I'm curious--how did you guys come up with the name? I noticed that it's Sarah Violet. I know Sarah Vowell, who played Violet in The Incredibles, also has CD and often writes about it. Is that just a very cool coincidence? Wink

Love the name!! Very Happy

Look what I found -- a generic powdered cheese made by Kraft. I do not see any gluten in the ingredients but PLEASE double check! I was doing a google search for the Kraft powdered cheese to get a price. I have not used this product.

2 (8oz) cans powdered cheese $8.15
#10 can (4lb) powdered cheese $26.00

If anyone buys this and likes it, please let us know.

Torrey, where did you find the shakers of cheese powder? We looked all over our local grocery store and couldn't find any.

Too funny - I didn't even think of that name tie-in. Hopefully the name won't jinx the baby and give her celiac. Very Happy

Sarah is a name that my husband has had picked out for years - don't know where he got it from. Violet is becaue both my husband and I have our birthdays in February, and Violet is the flower for that month. AND we just watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the old one, not the horrid new one), and my favorite evil girl on there is named Violet.

I like it because it is unusual, but not weird. So many people are saddling their kids with such whacked-out names now.

See-ya, Torrey! How many days till you start your new job???
