I've read on this board that Wendy's FF are GF. I order them after verifying that they are cooked in FF only oil.
Wendy's website doesn't list them as GF. Did something change or is this an omission on Wendy's part.
I don't get symptoms, so I wouldn't know. |

Our Wendy's doesn't use a dedicated fryer. According to all info I've seen, the fries are not GF. Whether that's because of a coating to make them crispy or they are fried with breaded items I don't know. I only know that the particular Wendy's that I might go to does not have dedicated fryers. _________________ Mom of Ty (he's eight) who was diagnosed by bloodwork June 2005, biopsy August 11, 2005, notified on & started GF August 18, 2005 |

I always worry about that dedicated fryer thing no matter what. The chance of cross-contamination just seems too high. And, call me paranoid, but even with a truly dedicated unit, I could just see someone accidentall dipping the wrong basket into the oil, or accidetally dropping some breaded thing into the oil, or crumbs, etc.
I just make fries at home. It's pretty easy just slicing the potatoes and boiling in some olive oil in a cast-iron pan for a bit. They taste just as good to me. _________________ Mike

Slightly off-topic, but I had some McD's fries last night and didn't get sick. At least with McD's, I'm guessing they mean it when they say "dedicated fryer". _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

McD's fries... ooohhhh, I am hungry now and that sounds darn good! (perhaps not good due to the fat content, but oh well). I have not eaten McD's in a good 5 years I'll bet. Nor BK come to think of it. And, either one is just a mile away. Maybe I'll just give that a shot next time go past there. _________________ Mike

There's been lots of arguments about their fries, but I don't seem to have any problems with them. So I still eat them. LOL hell, McD's is about the only fast food place I can eat at! And a quarter pounder and fries make good therapy.  _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

for what it's worth, whether the company says the fryer is dedicated or not, you're going to have a bunch of fourteen year olds working in the back who think it's awesome to fry just about anything. who knows what they are throwing in there?
just like gluten-free-mike mentioned, if you really want them, just make them at home.
the risk of damaging my intestines will never outweigh the convenience of fast food. _________________ If you're hungry, I'd love your support! |
