We went Friday night and I had the baby back ribs with a baked potato, love their baked potato. For choc lovers who also like coconut the Sidney's sinful sundae, vanilla ice cream rolled in coconut, covered in chocolate, whipped cream and fresh strawberries is also excellent and cost no more than Dairy Queen. Their drover platter with ribs and chicken is excellent and I also like to get the chicken plain and then get honey mustard, very yummy. _________________ CD by Biopsy 3/25/88 |

I haven't been to Outback yet, but it was exciting reading everyones posts...still al little weary of eating out but this is making me feel safer about trying it!
I think it would be great for everyone that is thankful that Outback has a GF menu (even if we haven't eaten there yet!) to send them an email. I think the positive feed back lets them know how much GF business is really out there!
(there is a place to email under the "contact us" section of their website) _________________ Susan |

Hi Susan,
Eating out is risky no matter where you go. Unless you are going to strictly GF restaurant.
You might consider holding off on dining out until you get settled in to the whole GF thing. Let your body get healed, get yourself on "level ground" before you venture out.
Just because a place has GF menus does not mean they are aware on how to handle cross contamination issues. Each Outback will be different, so when you do go, make sure you explain everything well to your server. Some servers know - some do not. _________________ Al

I did this with our local Bakers (Kroger) because they put up a GF section. The manager said they're always happy to hear comments like that. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Thanks Al, I think you're right about waiting. I want to see how my biopsy turns out in a few months. It may be a long time before I even consider it. No eating out experience is worth my health.
I think I am just excited that there is a potential to be able to do it again sometime in the future. And some restaurant chains actually know we are out here! _________________ Susan |

Susan,
I thought you were already diagnosed. If so, why another biopsy?

I was biopsied in August. The Gastro said I have to come back in December to check and see if I am healing or (I guess) if I will need to be put on meds. The diabetes issue complicates healing but I thought this was normal protocol...is it not? _________________ Susan |

So does anyone know why Outback doesn't open for business until like 3 or 4 in the afternoon? I would have gone there for lunch many times while traveling but their always closed until late afternoon. |

The one nearest us just started opening for lunch. Though, we have several in the area...and it's only the one that opens earlier.
The Cheeseburger In Paradise and Bonefish Restaurants near us are closed until 4 pm too! |

The normal protocol to determine if you are healing or not is bloodwork. Biopsy's can cause hiatel (spelling?) hernias so follow up biopsys are not recommended. This is what I learned from UCCDP. Ask them when you're there on the 14th.

Because their burgers are too big for lunch.
