What?!?! Not Canadian Cheese? LOL!!!! |
No, we're not so arrogant to name a food after our country.
We call it back bacon, you guys call it Canadian Bacon.
Isn't Cheezwhiz a "cheese food"? _________________ Mom of Ty (he's eight) who was diagnosed by bloodwork June 2005, biopsy August 11, 2005, notified on & started GF August 18, 2005 |

Isn't cheese food what you feed cheese? _________________ Cheers!

Tried this last night with regular cheddar. It didn't look anything like your pics. Melted into a big flat mess.
Hmmm.

Isto, I could have sworn I put this recipe on here awhile back before the recipe section was reformed. I know I shared it with my local support group.
I'm really glad you posted the recipe and that you enjoy it too!!!!!!
My husband has been after me for awhile to make it again, but I've been so busy that I just put it aside to get to "after awhile".
<3 ya!

Did you do it on the parchment paper? _________________

I did not use parchment paper the first time, but I just tried it again and did use parchment paper and placed them further apart, too. Oh, and I also cooked it at a slightly lower temp to see if that would help. This time I had several separate puddles of flat mess.

Maybe cheddar is too hard. I know I've done co-jack and that worked good. _________________

I actually used some jack, too. It did the same thing. I think you're magical and cheese just doesn't like me!

The first time I tried this, I did nto use parchment - I used wax paper. The cheese became one with the paper. My next batch I forgot to set the timer so they came out like Al's krispies! My children saw them and said, "Oh, look! Chocolate!" They knew what it was supposed to be!
When I finally got the parchment paper, they came out fine. They ARE just globs - but crispy globs. If your cheese pieces are crisping up, you are getting it right, regardless of how they look. _________________

But your globs have depth--they are not flat puddles. Mine are flat puddles with holes in them where the bubbles were before they popped. I will say that C did like the second batch, but I didn't care for them. I've researched which American is approved for Feingold and I'll buy some of that the next time I'm at the store and see if I can make them turn out more like yours.
