Though I am sorely tempted, I am not partaking.
Also, I don't want to put her on the spot and inquire as to the ingredients.
Mexican recipes, for the most part, are clear of gluten, but one never knows unless one is in charge of the process from the start.
Some days are tougher than others... _________________ Freed from Gluten, July 2006 |

Hang in there Rags!! Maybe you can ask them for the recipe? That's usually a good opening line. You can then go into your issues, if they aren't aware of it. _________________ Al

If it helps, we've been getting all sorts of treats this week for various occasions. I'm getting better at resisting the siren call of donuts.
I like the idea of asking for the recipe. You don't even have to go into the whole GF thing if you don't want to. Just mention that you're full right now, but would love to try making them later. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

| Poor Rags! I love authentic Mexican cuisine and even I would have a hard time resisting homemade tamales. Just thinking of them makes my mouth water. Hopefully, you're work day will be over soon. |

Wow. Asking for the recipe!
That's a terrific alternative, which would have eluded me.
Thanks! _________________ Freed from Gluten, July 2006 |

I hope you at least got a good, deep sniff. I now have a bad habit of breathing in - at close range - the aroma of other people's non-GF food. I ask first, of course, and don't cough or sneeze or drool, or anything gross like that. It is somewhat satisfying, and one way of "enjoying" non-GF food. _________________ Nance

I do that too! DH recently bought some Life cereal. It's aroma therapy. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

I thought I was the only one that did that! I think people must think I have lost my mind when the offers me something and I say "No thanks - but can I smell it?" Smelling a donut is (almost) as good as eating it. _________________ -Colleen

Funny stuff, folks.
I used to wonder whether driving past a Dunkin Donuts would cause my cholesterol to go up!
I will ask my colleague for her recipe. Just to see if I can do it myself because I've got tamales on the ol' appestat (a mechanism in the central nervous system that controls food intake). _________________ Freed from Gluten, July 2006 |
