Does anyone know what can cause dizziness?
I've been really dizzy and "off" since yesterday and I don't know why...my friends think it may be diet-related (not enough protein or B12 or something), and I just wanted to ask you all for some advice. It's almost like my eyes can't fully focus, if that makes any sense at all...
I've been really good about eating GF (I haven't cheated in 3 years!), so I know it's not a gluten reaction. I'm thinking it's more of a deficiency of something...I've been low in B12 before, but I'm not sure if that's what this is or not...
Any ideas???

Hi Torrey,

Sorry to hear that Sad

Do you take a b12 supp?
Do you're ears feel plugged?
Do you have a cold or allergies?

How is your blood pressure? Low blood pressure can cause that, especially when you stand up.

Hope you get to the bottom of it soon!

Are you sure you're eating enough? I usually get that way when I've accidentally skipped meals (low blood sugar). Hope you find the answer soon!

I've had problems with dizziness when my allergies are acting up. This goes along with Al's question about how are your ears. If I go too long between meals (early dinner and skip breakfast) I have issues with dizziness.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

I *do* take a b12 supp, and I used to get shots, but I am thinking I may need to ask doc for a new script for the shots...seems like I need them again...
Not to be totally gross, but my ears feel kinda waxy, if that make any sense...not plugged per se, but more like I can feel the wax building up. Sorry--I know that sounds icky, but it's the only way I can describe it... Embarassed
As for allergies, believe it or not--I have none...I have ridiculously sensitive skin (redhead), but I don't have any allergies, which is interesting because my bro, sis, and mom are allergic to everything under the sun, BUT I'm the only one that requires a GF diet...

And I eat every couple of hours...I'm not a big "meal" person--it's too much for me to eat at one time, so I'm always eating smaller stuff more frequently...my blood pressure is (always has been) naturally low, which is very good considering my family history, but I'm not sure if that is a part of it, too...

Thanks, ALL!!

Could it be stress?

Um, yeah...I guess my life *does* have a lot of stress in it right now...honestly, as silly as it sounds, I never even put stress into the equation...but yeah, that could definitely have something to do with it...
I've been stressed out before (lots of times, actually Rolling Eyes ), but I've never felt like this...no joke, I slept all day yesterday...with little Emmett attached to my shoulder...

Hey Torrey,

I get dizzy when glutened - not to say that you have been glutened, but one never really knows? The fact that you stayed in bed all day made me think glutening too (fatigue?). I know my symptoms have changed over time, and are rarely the same every time I have the bad luck or stupidity to get glutened.
Other causes of dizziness: low blood sugar (but you appear to eat in a way to keep it even), hormonal changes, lack of protein/b vits, low blood pressure, herbs (too much St John's Wort makes me wicked dizzy!).

Hope you get back to normal soon. If not, go see the doc, please!

<side note>Cats do healing wonders. I know whenever I have a sinus headache Terapin lays on my shoulder and purrrrrs me to sleep. I think DH has been training her behind my back.</side note>

Anywho, I hope you figure it out so you can start feeling better. I second what Nance said: if it keeps happening make sure you go to the doctor.

>>response to side note: I totally agree! This morning, my cats must have known that Mommy wasn't feeling 100%. I had one on either side of me, all curled up in the comforter. Smile

I think I may go home and make one of those GF bagels, smother it with peanut butter, snuggle up with my crazy little munchkins, and watch "Flushed Away" on DVD...my dad just sent it. Smile

Torrey,

I felt like this about 6 years ago. It also sounded funny at times when people talked to me, like they were far away or in a barrel. Went to the doctor and they irrigated my ears. It was due to wax buildup on the inside. That took care of the problem. Just an idea!

I re-read your first post and you mention that it's hard to focus your eyes. This, for me, is a sure sign of glutening. You might consider the possibility...hope you are feeling better. Very Happy

I find that I get dizzy when I'm dehydrated (and headaches). It also affects my vision as your muscles need water to flex and move - I get "sticky" eyes (if that makes sense). Especially in the hot weather make sure you're drinking enough water.

neuro problems can be tricky to pinpoint sometimes. Could be dehydration, or some sort of adverse reaction. I know dizziness, muscle soreness, fatigue, trouble focusing, and now insomnia all too well. Best they can come up with is chronic fatigue syndrome aka we have no idea what the feck is causing it.

Have you eaten more nutrasweet or splenda than normal lately? tried to lower your sugar intake, or had it in large doses? Protein can't hurt either, although I'd think that wouldn't be quite so sudden to appear but I don't know for sure.

If you are on medications, even changing what you have for breakfast when you take them can make a huge difference. If you take a multi (complete with lots of trace minerals, nerves like that sort of thing) take it separate from any meds if you are on them.
