The cake is stunning and the food table is just beautiful! I love the way the fruit is used as food & decoration.
Your daughter's dress is so appealing with the red details and they look like a sweet couple!
Blessings! |

Beautiful! I don't think I've ever really seen a wedding dress with color in it like that - it's stunning. Also nice job on the cake and food - looks yummy! _________________ Cheers!

The photographer just got the pictures online. If you are interested in seeing more, you can watch the video and then click on 'purchase' and it brings up more photos that can be seen.

I can't get over the cake! It's so pretty. How long did it take you? _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

The decorating was the easy part to the cake. The baking was what took the most time.
I think it is 7 cake mixes total in the cake and about 15 pounds of sugar in the icing.
DD's MIL made the beautiful bow for me. _________________

She looked beautiful and so happy! Thanks for sharing her special day with us! (BTW - mine is 6 weeks from today - EEP!!! ) Great cake - that was the hardest part about planning my wedding. I will have to post my pictures once we get back from the honeymoon. Where did your daughter and her husband go for theirs?

Thanks for all of the comments!
The happy couple had 2 days here before they flew out to Germany. They were at their apartment for 2 days before they caught a train to Switzerland and then they went to East Berlin. She said that the places to eat were great about GF food. The chef would meet with them and discuss what they would prepare.
They then went to a city that starts with an L and attended a Phil Collins/Genesis concert.
They are now back at their apartment trying to get started putting the place together.
One of the things that I thought was really strange is that there are no appliances in the apartment. They do not even have light fixtures. When you leave a place, you take EVERYTHING with you. They are trying to buy a few kitchen cabinets along the way..........even the kitchen sink.
Her phone calls home are really interesting to hear of their latest adventure. _________________

I am soooooo fricken jelous it's not even funny!!!! Genesis is on "tour" right now. They will be coming to the States but there's only limited number of dates. I'd venture to guess the closest they'd come is Chicago ;( Yup - Chicago is the closest. Tickets are 57.00 to 227.00.
We saw them in Madison, WI for the I Can't Dance tour...they put on a fantastic show!
What a great honeymoon present!!!!!
Great pix! Peg just LOVED DD's dress! Very classy she said. Cake looked fab too! _________________ Al

HI ALL!
I finally found my way back to the forum!
(Amazing what happens when you don't bring your favorites with you when you move )
But I made it back ok... sort of.. LOL
I did have a fun time at the Genesis tour, and let me tell ya, the only NOT FUN parts were that it rained cats and dogs after (we had no umbrella!) and that people were smoking and drinking beer within close proximity to us. WAA!
I got pretty sick off of that with my sinuses, not to mention the smell of beer sends me reeling.
I have learned that since I am now one year GF, I have topical reactions to gluten, even if I don't see it sitting there on the table or chair or whatever I touch - and it ain't fun... and that if you sit down with the chefs here to talk about the issue, more often than not, they have been trained in the art of GF food!
The Berlin hotel we stayed at was awesome about fixing us GF food and making sure there were Shär breads available to us. The chef was really nice. We even found a GF restaurant on the other side of town from us (we stayed in the former East side ) and he made the most awesome Turkey parmesan Schnitzel I have ever had! And our potatoes were even GF made so we had some awesome German butter potatoes with rosemary!
We went there twice, we loved it so much. I didn't even mind the long walk...!
The Ubahn was freaky and awesome at the same time...
Leipzig was... interesting. I loved the Genesis tour..! Leipzig is still "half dead" since the berlin wall fell, but is slowly recovering since the World Cup Soccer events... mainly a University town and the diehards who have lived there since the dawn of time..
Zurich was the absolute best of everything. We spent the longest time there, and the hotel was more than amazing about fixing us GF meals at night, or having fruit and other items available for breakfast that I could eat. (Eggs, yoghurt, fresh fruit, Fresh fruit juice, water, fruitsalad...etc)
We found a reformhaus near us that had some good items, and found a store there that was really cool that had a section of GF items as well.
The funniest thing there was going to a Turkish Döner shop and being greeted in typical Zuricher dialect 'Grietzi!' (Gruß Gott)
I almost fell on the floor laughing each time..!
I found out that I can't have the special spice-salt on the french fries at the Döner place (the hard way! ) but now am OK and bouncing back.
The train ride was really cool.. we almost emptied of passengers near the German-Swiss border, and the last stop before Switzerland we were borded completly by Japanese tourists.
That was terribly fun to watch and experience. I just hate that my knowledge of Japanese is limited to my anime... LOL I only got the "'scuse me, pardon me, is this seat taken, I'm Sorry, thank you, and 'Domo'/'Dozo'" out of the whole thing, but it was funny beyond imagination... what made it funnier is I was reading one of my Manga when this older couple asked if the seats across from us were taken, we both said 'Dozo' and they took the seats... and noticed I was reading my manga, smiled and the gentleman took his out and began reading his. LOL!
We didn't see them after that, though we did bump into some Japanese tourists near the Zurichersee at the Ganymede statue one day...
Zurich was beautiful, but expensive. Never thought the Swiss Franc would still be above the Euro.. but it was worth it!
Maybe we can go back on our 10th anniv or something.
I have been adjusting here, and finding new items I can't have and items I have to really see if there are alternatives so I can use them for cooking. (like Baking powder..!)
I did find a cool alternative to Pringles (which are carried here), and I found Lays potato chips. Almost all potato chips are off limits to us here.
But, I did find corn chips that are close enough to ours, and finally found real salsa (most is more like sweet sour sauce. EWW!) - and I have found the asian and indian markets in my area.
Sad thing, I found I have topical reactions to gluten now.
I don't know what I touched last night, but apparently I have "been exposed"
I live above a bakery/post office.. let me tell you that has been interesting... I will be glad when they are gone next year. _________________
