Had an appointment with the pediatric GI for Sarah yesterday. She fell off the growth chart at 9 months and has not made it back on. She has had chronic constipation since we started her on solids at 5 months. She is a really poor eater, too. I think she would just like to be down doing other things rather than up in her chair eating.

The GI wants to do blood tests for celiac. He says it is not impossible to get a positive blood result from one this young (she turns 1 today). If the bloodwork is negative, we will repeat it when she is 2. She is eating small amounts of gluten now, as our house is GF except for a few of her baby foods.

I really hope the results are negative.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH!

(I hope that the testing goes well and that she doesn't have celiac)

I hope you find some reason why she's not eating well! I also hope it's not CD. I was also a picky eater when I was little.

When my daughter was a baby, she wasn't even on the growth charts in fact she was way below. We couldn't even turn her around in her car seat until she was about 2 1/2. That's when she finally hit 20 lbs. She finally was on the charts a age six!! YIPEE!! Very Happy

She has been tested for CD twice, with 2 negatives.

So I wouldn't go on size. My son who is 16 and over 6 feet tall looks like he is the only one of my children with CD. So you never know. He goes in for his Endoscopy next Thursday.

First off, Happy (belated) Birthday, Sarah!

I too, was a VERY picky eater growing up (ok, so I still am... Embarassed ).
And, out of 3 kids, I am by far the shortest...but at least I am taller than my mom (I'm just about 5 feet tall...mom is 4' 11"). Wink

But, at the same time, I am not full-fledged celiac. I am EXTREMELY gluten intolerant, but I *did* test negative for actually being celiac, so I am considering myself lucky that it was discovered in time. Smile

We had the blood draw this morning, which was quite the experience. You never know quite how strong a one-year-old is until you have to take blood from them. It took 3 of us to hold her down. Now we just have to wait for the results....

I'll be praying for you.

My son should get his endoscopy results on Wednesday. I'm really nervous because the GI only took two samples. I told him everything I read said to take 12-15 samples. He looked at me funny and said "that is not necessary" Shocked

So if they come back negative, I won't really know if it is because it is negative or he missed the damage. I really hate "Know it all doctors"
(especially when I told him I wanted a lot of samples, and he still didn't take them) Evil or Very Mad Plus it cost over $1800 and we have stinky insurance.

The test results are in. Looks like she is negative for now. We will test her again when she turns 2. What a relief!

That's good to hear. One less thing to check. Smile

I'm not sure if this will help, but I was a very picky eater too (my brother was a garbage disposal). In fact I used to fall asleep 5 minutes into nursing. I was also a skinny little thing when I was born. (No, I don't know what happened either.)

I'm so happy for you, what a blessing. Hopefully she will stay that way. I sure wish one negative meant for life. I have to worry about my other three kids, and it will never go away.

My daughter has been tested twice, last May was her second time. It was negative, however now she is complaining of stomach aches frequently before bed. I hope having that car fire in our frount yard didn't trigger something. ( She thought her brother and dad were going to die) I guess for now we will just keep watching her. I hate to have her tested again so soon after the last one. I think the doctor would think I was crazy.
