Hello everyone!

My sister is obsessed with pink - to the point that whenever I see anything pink (even if it's completely unrelated to anything she would like) I would think of her and want to buy it. All our friends and family would agree with me and do the same. Pink insanity!

Anyway...!
So this week is her bridal shower with her friends (as opposed to our older family members), and it's basically entitled "you like pink? YOU GOT IT!" and it's a PINK OVERLOAD!

I am making EVERYTHING on the menu pink - and if it's already not pink, well, then I am going to make it pink (I won't use dye, but instead use natural beet juice... But I want to avoid that if I can because then I have to make that, too).

I do have ideas, but I am wondering if anyone is feeling super creative and can think of anything! I am looking for just snacks/desserts, but am open to anything.

I cannot use any pre-made ingredients, so nothing with cheese or cream cheese, and so on. I'm also dairy free, but a great cook so can make anything taste the same - I just can't use premade ingredients.

Thank you! I look forward to the replies!

Just out of curiosity, why can't you use pre-made ingredients? That sorta narrows the list down. Confused

....pink....*shudders*

One of our local health grocery stores sells the dye made from foods. (beet for pink, blueberry for blue ect. Would those be possible to use?)

If you are dairy intolerant, can you not use the soy cream cheese?

*****

Cake made with ground up strawberries and the icing also.

If you could do the 'dye' You could put celery in beet water and it would absorb the pink. Use beet colored tofu.

If you could use Cool whip, you could make pink fluff.

Beet juice used in your bread loaf to color the sandwich bread and then use thin slices of ham (well they are sorta pink)

For the juice, you could use some red grape juice and mix it with white grape juice until you get a pink color.

Okay, that's all I can come up with until I know if you can use some other ingredients.

Cool whip makes a strawberry flavor now which is already pink, don't know if its GF because I've never bought it.

The frosting on this cake was made subbing the liquid from mascerated strawberries for the other liquid in the recipe. I will return with a few more ideas but Physical Therapy is calling me.

Right there with you, Os...right there with you...

Sorry I can't offer too many suggestions...I tend to avoid pink like the plague...but I like Mrs. P's suggestions of using things like strawberries, etc.

How about stuff like rose champagne? That could work...
Or "Pink Lady" apples? They have those in Whole Foods...
Pink meringue cookies?
Pink M&Ms (or candies like that?)

I like the berry/fruit idea. There's lots of fruits and berries that are red/pink: apples, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, etc.

Boiled Shrimp served with a Remoulade Sauce would be a perfectly pink snack.

Chilled strawberry soup served in shot glasses would be fun for one of the desseerts
Raspberry bars

Don't forget the Pink Panty Pulldowns and the Rosé wine to drink

To answer your question it's a mixture of vodka, pink lemonade and Sprite or 7-Up. Fresh lemon juice and grenadine or maraschino cherry juice can be subbed for the pink lemonade.

When I was working on my undergrad degree there was a bar just off campus that was famous for Pink Panty Pulldowns. Pink undies were commonly worn all over campus on Thursdays -- that bar's night -- because the bar gave a free drink to anyone wearing pink undies. That bar was also always filled with guys...the name comes from what happens after coeds drink too many of them. Of course, I NEVER drank too many. Rolling Eyes

thanks for the ideas. i won't use pre-made products for the reason that i simply hate additives. in addition, i can make them all on my own, pretty much, but i don't really want to for this party. i've a lot of work to do for the wedding, too.

mrsp - thanks for the tip on the 'natural' dyes - i think i will go look for those to save me a step.

i've all the ideas i need,thanks again!
