I have been reading on here for about a week , and decided to register I have found alot of helpful info on here. I had a endosospy 4 days ago so im still waiting for results, im kinda confused I never had any blood work and I read on here that alot of people did that first ?

I have had tummy problems since i was young ,but about 7 yrs ago it good really bad and the last 5 have been terrible , I didnt see a Dr about it for a long time I was so afraid it was cancer or something when I finally did see a Dr for the stomache cramps and bloating and explosive direah every time I ate I mean every time I ate , she just said go on a brat diet , i told her I cant even eat a piece of bread , At that time I had no idia about Celiac disease . I had my gallbladder removed five years ago and they kept blaming it on that ? Anyways here we are years later and I still got all the same problems I was having to starve myself all day at work ,so i didnt get sick I lost 40 pounds in this last year . I had a two surgerys in the last 8 months one being a hystercomy so mabe that was some of the weight factor ?

I still feel sick whenever I eat and it dont seem to matter what it is , its driving me nuts I cant eat in public unless theres a bathroom and I never eat at friends houses , i cant go on long trips the last trip was a few yrs ago and I starved i ate once and had to stop in the next 2 towns to use the restooms. Just this last i was sent to a gi dr he did a colonoskpy in april and it was ok then said it must br irratble bowel and kept trying diffrent meds , when i went in for a med check i told him nothings working and i feel like i must me allergic to everything im eating im lactose intolerat so that dont help the matter , at this point he said we need to back up and check for celiac ( no blood test though) and scheduled the scope I am hoping for results soon though I dont want this disease i want to know whats wrong with me , i am tired all the time huge black circles around my eyes for yrs i have no energy Im 33 got 4 kids I need some energy .

Thanks for taking the time to listen to me rant there is so much more to tell but thats the short story of it all

Don't go GF yet....go get the bloodwork done. Hopefully that will answer your question, then you can go GF if it's positive, or even if it is not if it will help you feel better.

Hey Tonya! The good news is if the blood tests come back positive (go get the bloodwork done!) the problem is easier to fix than something like cancer. It's just a diet change, not the end of the word. Smile

If you do get the bloodwork, stay on a regular diet before the blood is drawn. Otherwise your results will be inaccurate.

Have you checked out our helpful noobie section over here? If not I'd give it a shot. There's some great stuff Al's put together.

Welcome to the board! Feel free to keep asking questions!

Hey Tonya,

Sorry to hear your not feeling well, hopefully you will get some answers soon.

Os is right, its easier to fix than cancer.
Before I was tested, I had lost over 27 pounds in about 3 weeks and was always sick.

I got an endoscopy first (they were looking for gall stones or to see if there was damage from an ulcer) Thankfully, my Dr. liked what he was seeing because he brought the scope to my lower intestine and started taking biopsies. When He called me with my results (on a Friday) he told me my villi was completely blunted and told me to come in on Monday morning for the blood test. The endoscopy had already confirmed CD, the bloodwork proved it even more.

At first I thought *Cripes!* this bites! But after going GF (it takes a while) I started feeling alot better, and the brain fog cleared, as well as some of my other symptoms.

This forum has a world of information right here as well as links....best of all......Celiacforums has the best support system you could ever want!

*good luck on your road to feeling better* Smile

take care,
Ann
