Ok, so I'm dropping lbs like crazy. Everything I eat is going right through me. My doctor went ahead and ran an anti-body profile.
Here's what she found... anything 2 and above is a positive allergy
Soy 2
Oat 6
Rice 11
egg yolk 2
corn 11
chocolate 12
wheat 5
Bakers Yeast 7
Only 3 of the 11 items she tested me for were below 2 and they were. Peanuts
Gluten
egg white
Very interesting. The eggs I do NOT understand at all. Any time I eat eggs, with or without anything else, they tear me up! It seams that all of my grains are out. This is very depressing!! There's so much she didn't test me for, I can't help but wonder what else I'm allergic to, especially after just being affected by a plum. :cry _________________ Kristie M.

(((((KRISTIE)))))
I am not sure that I can be much help to you right now I am in the middle of the worst fibro flare I have ever had and I am on some wonderful drugs
Did the dr. test you for other fruits specifically? If so, what were those reactions like?
MrP can only eat bananas and pears. Supposedly he can have yellow apples if I peel them, but he was afraid to try since he can not have any other apples.
His list of veggies keeps decreasing.
I see where you do not mention garbanzo beans, so you could grind that to make bread with.
Arrowroot can be subbed for the cornstarch.
Millet could be used for bread. (We love that grain.......) We also use quinoa in the bread.
Since you can't have yeast, you will have to rely on baking powder HAINS is made from potato so it should be okay for you.
Buttermilk helps to make bread rise, so that can help.
For the eggs, you could use the egg whites and whip them to help raise the foods.
I wonder if you have an over growth of candida (sp)
FOr the confectioner sugar you can use for your own icing, take 1 cup of sugar in the blender with 1 TB of potato starch and grind away. This takes a while, so you might want to grind a few cups each day to put aaway into a container so that you can make icing anytime you want.
I hope you get to feeling better. If I get inspired, I will pass on some other ideas. _________________

Hmmm...since you said you have issues with eggs, and yet eggs on the test came back OK, could the test be off? I'm so sorry Kristie! *hugs* I hope you get to the bottom of this soon. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Kristie,
Why only 11 foods tested? Can you have your Dr. have you tested for a wider range of foods?
If not you may have to do it on your own. I had the Elisa Food Intolerance Test at York Nutritional Laboratories. Its done by mail. They send you a kit for a finger prick blood draw. It expensive but it was worth the price for me. I don't remembe how much it cost but I'm sure it was over $300.00.
Their web site is:

Thanks everyone! To say this is an adjustment is an understatement. So far, I'm pretty much sticking 4-5 vegetables, quinoa, fish and chicken. It's very boring!
However, the huge positive side is at least I'm not sick. If I sway off in the slightest, I become quite ill. I guess the only choice I have is to be bored. My doctor hopes that in 6 months time my gut will be healed and I'll be able to slowly work my allergens back in, and should tolerate them. (hopefully!)
I would really like to find something for breakfast. I'm still working on that one. I seem to tolerate veggies much better than fruits. But meat and veggies in the AM is too much for me. I need a grain and one other than quinoa (It's all I'm eating the rest of the day!)
This week, I've either eaten a banana and would get sick, or just went without breakfast, which isn't good for my low blood pressure.
Mrs. P... My heart goes out to Mr. P! I can relate. Right now, I'm making the same meal over and over again, it's the only thing that stays in!
The doctor didn't test me for other fruits, but banana's plums and maybe straberries all effect me. Mainly in a GI reaction. Despite the test results, eggs (white or yolks) are a no can do! I've decided for now at least not try to replace breads or such, if you have any breakfast type suggestions however, I'd love to hear them!! I know this isn't much to work with but the following are out... corn, rice, gluten (of course), soy, egg, dairy, potato, banana, plum, yeast, chocolate, red meat. I'm sure there's more and I know this is an impossible request.
Thanks for the hugs and support everyone! I grew up with an anorexic mother. Every time I hugged her I feared she would break. This is now starting to happen to me, not of my own will or doing. She didn't eat because she feared she'd get fat, I eat but it makes me sick and don't absorb it Now, there's nothing safe I can eat.. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with this... I want my kids to be able to hug me.. always! _________________ Kristie M.

((((Kristie)))) So sorry to hear your diet has to be even more limited! I've just cut and pasted some ideas from some info I have stashed on my palm. I think I got most of the info from this forum, but I'm not sure where. Maybe it can give you some other ideas:
Top 10 celiac foods:
Brazil Nuts:
Highest dietary source of selenium (good for liver, immune system and for activating thyroid hormone. 2 nuts per is worth almost 200mcg. More than 5 daily can be toxic!!
Study found those that ate nuts 5 times a week decreased their risk of heart attack by 50%
Flax Seeds:
1 tbl spoon has: 2g protein, 3g dietary fiber. Same as Metamucil. Reduce constipation and treat ulcerative colitis
High in Omega 3's Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's) Helps regulate intestinal motility, improves digestion
Pomegranates:
Juice has antioxidant power 6 times higher than green tea High in Vit. C
Reduces blood pressure and lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol Studies in mice show 44% reduction in atherosclerotic plaque (clogged arteries
Beets
Stimulates the liver to secret bile, which can relieve constipation.
1/2 cup has 2g fiber
Vit. C, B vits,Beta carotene, Manganese & Potassium. Purple color (betacyanin) is a cancer fighting agent. Several studies show effectivness against colon cancer
Kale
Broccoli
Cabbage
Plain yogurt
Lentils
Quinoa
Pomegranates:
Juice has antioxidant power 6 times higher than green tea High in Vit. C
Reduces blood pressure and lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol Studies in mice show 44% reduction in atherosclerotic plaque (clogged arteries).
I know there is some things here that you probably cannot have. What about other kinds of nuts?
Hang in there, I'm sure others will have more ideas. _________________ Kim --

Kristie,
It's been awhile - have you made any progress on working some of the restricted foods back into your diet? I was re-reading this part of the forum to try and boost my spirits as I'm getting very depressed about my own current diet limitations.
Yes, GF life can be challenging, but not like this!
Hope you are doing better. _________________ Nance

Kristie hasn't been on the board in awhile. The last time I heard life had gotten pretty busy for her. I would suggest PMing her. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Nancw,
(I received an e-mail Topic reply notification-thanks for thinking of me)
I wish I could offer you words of encouragement, I'm very sorry to hear you're having a hard time with further dietary limitations.
My health is declining rapidly, even the doctor is crying with me. The weight is still coming off. Each week at least one other food is added to the "no-no" list. It's much easier to list what I can have verses what I can not have. I can drink water and nothing else. I can eat chicken and turkey, Quiona is still OK, but that's the only grain. I have tried others, but it's a no go. I can tolerate sweet potato's but not white. I can have fresh peas, carrots, green beans, zucchini, celery and asparagus. Fruit, I am able to eat grapes, strawberries, blueberries, and melon in moderation. There's my complete diet.
Since I have taken the offending foods out of my diet, any infraction has very painful repercussions, some pretty severe and some lasting 4-5 days.
The doctor is doing what she can to help, but is running out of ideas. She was treating me with fish oil and pro-biotics. However, after a few weeks taking the fish oil, I ended up in the ER, now the fish is out. I'm still taking the pro-biotics and digestive enzymes, but I'm afraid it's not helping.
On a completely separate note, I come here from time to time to read how everyone is doing, I think of you all often and am praying for you all.
Nanc, I really hope things work out for you, I wish I could be more helpful! _________________ Kristie M.

Kristie, I am so sorry to hear that your health is not any better!!!
Wow, your diet is as bad as MrP's! I have to ask you, if you do not mind, why you can only drink water? MrP is down to water, with no sulfites or salt and only coffee run through a metal paper. (the paper filters make him react immediantly)
We found out that any paper products touching his food, drink or skin will cause immediate reactions of stomach and neurologically.
Are you taking the supplements in pill form? If you are, the gel caps that they use are corn based. (I know you are not supposed to have corn.)
I miss seeing you around!
How is your son doing? Are you still homeschooling this year? _________________

Mrs P.
Sorry it's taken so long to reply. In answer to your question, YES! I am homeschooling both of the children. I was really worried about my health keeping me from doing so, but in truth, schooling them is a wonderful distraction. Much has been gained from our decision to homeschool.
As far as the drinks go, I do sneak in my coffee when needed (half and half), but I can't tolerate as much as I used to or as I'd like. Other than that, I have stronger reactions to everything else I've tried. As I'm sure you and Mr. P know only too well, corn is in most everything. Being that dairy, rice, sugar, and soy are all out, I'm not sure what's left. decaf tea, I suppose, but I never have been fond of tea.
I do my best to avoid any corn product. The pro-biotic I take claims to be corn free, but like you said, it's most likely in the capsule.
There's no winning when you're this restricted. But I refuse to let it get me down. There's a reason I'm going through this, not one I yet understand, but one day I'm sure it will be revealed to me, and then it will all be worth it. In the mean time, I continuously read Romans 5:2B-5, focus on my family, and take each day as it comes.
Thanks for your kind words. I miss you too. Please let Mr. P know he's not alone! Same for you!! I see everyday how hard my dietary restriction is on my husband. I can only imagine how much harder it is for you, preparing his meals, etc... My DH does his best, but when it comes to my meals, I'm on my own! He's afraid he'll poison me. ((((hugs))))) to you both! _________________ Kristie M.
