Kris - if you need moral support or a chat re:homeshooling, I've been doing it going on 11 years now. Still love it as much as I did the 1st day we began!!!
Mrs. P - I hope you are up and around and feeling better quickly after your surgery.
Al and Peg - have a great long weekend!
We are all doing well. I'm working 6 days a week. My husband just had the MRI to find out if a pinched nerve is causing his inability to walk. We get the results this week.
I have all my lesson plans done for school, which begins August 27. I worked all summer on the plans and curriculum, so I really breathed a sigh of relief to have them wrapped up. One of my clients was helping me with the plans (just as something to keep her busy). When we finished she suggested we celebrate with ice cream. She's always trying to think of reasons to eat ice cream. Personally, I don't think you ever need a reason to eat ice cream!!
Enjoy August! If you are traveling, be safe! |

August - school in 2 weeks and my boy wants nothing to do with shoe, supply or any other kind of shopping. I'm just past the days of buying what I know what will fit, and into the "you must come with me or I'll be returnng it all" phase.
Trying to determine what's wrong - kinda like I've been glutened without the anxiety and depression. I cut out all supplements except a multi and fish and evening primrose oils, and am suspecting corn and/or dairy may not be my friends anymore (a bowl of Gorilla Much with milk sent me reeling off to bed for a nap the other evening ). DH is hitting the road for most of the month so I must feel better or it's gonna be a long, long August.
Jenn - nice to "see" you and the bebe! Hope you feel better and better. Enjoy the beach (IMO nothing better for body and mind, says the girl living in a land-locked state).
For the newsletter, how about something concerning other intolerances and how they can be both similar and different from GI and CD? Just a thought.
Yeah, what's up with that missing software? I couldn't even start determining what my mac needed, so thanks for the YouTube link. BrAWCK!
Cheers and good health to all. _________________ Nance

I've been AWOL for quite some time, but trying to get ready for homeschooling. Our DD is starting High School a year early. Yikes, mom of teenager. I've also gone back to school to get my Doctorate of Naturopathy. So the home fires are very busy. My hubby is much better and has been back to work for some time. We have started a new business, if you want to see, go to www.quickwatermiracles.com We are still working on our new streaming video, so its a work in progress.
Had two of the grandkids and our oldest DD and Son-In-Law up for a visit a few weeks back, good to see everyone. My quest in the world of a Celiac has gone well, except for a few cross-contamination issues and some joint issues, but still better than when I began, a year and a half ago.
Hope to spend some time on the forum in the near future.
P.S. Does anyone do bulk GF cooking? Looking to streamline my hectic schedule. _________________ Never let your fears become the bounderies of your dreams! |

August is a fun month for us. My 25th wedding anniversary is the 7th and DH has surprised me with a trip to NYC...I am sooo excited. My oldest daughter is keeping the two younger ones for 5 days...this is the first trip my DH and I have taken without kids in 23 years. Ina (our celiac) is nervous about us leaving...she said "who is going to make sure that I have food?". We have had a good laugh about that, but DD has promised her that she will cook for her, and I have stocked the freezer and pantry. Ina is always hungry
Ina is much better with her nausea and vomiting issues. She was seen by a autism specialist last month and her meds were adjusted and so far she has not vomited since the adjustment....the thought was that the vomiting was caused by nervousness. The nervousness is improved...YAAYYY!!!
She got caseinated in July (the first time in several years)....I had hoped that after several years on GF diet that the milk intolerance would go away but it has not She was SICK for a week.
I also homeschool and this will be my 17th year We will start the 20th of August...this is the earliest that I have ever started...I usually do not start until after Labor Day, but this year I am doing some different things and want to start a few weeks earlier, to allow time to work out the kinks... lol... My planning is all done, my supplies all set up and ready to go. It should be fun! _________________ Connie, mom to Ina, 14 y/o with CD |

This whole summer has been crazy busy for us. We bought a new ski boat this year so we've had a blast taking that out a lot! We went to Lake of the Ozarks and Colorado with our boys in June. And July we did a little camping 1 weekend, rode RAGBRAI the last week of July (I ride part of it, my husband rides the whole week). For those of you who haven't heard of it it's a huge week long bike ride across the whole state of Iowa. It stops in different towns over night, and goes through towns during the day. It draws babout 10,000 or more each year. It's a blast! If you're a biker you should really try it some time! We've talked to all kinds of people who come from all over to do it. And Lance Armstrong has ridden it the last 2 summers.
August has will continue to be busy with boating, other summer activities around here, then school starts in 2 weeks for 2 of my boys... hard to believe! This summer has gone by so fast! I'm hoping for a little down time soon!
I'm still trying to heal myself with this diet. I've actually been able to enjoy most of this summer compared to last summer so that has been great!! Now.... seasonal allergies kick in on top of anything else I feel. But, that's manageable I guess.... what can you do!?
HAve a good one everybody! |

Better late than never.
We got back from holiday yesterday afternoon. We spent July 31 - August 8 on Vancouver Island with my parents, and my sister and her family were visiting as well. Great weather and a mostly good time was had by all. _________________ Mom of Ty (he's nine) who was diagnosed by bloodwork June 2005, biopsy August 11, 2005, notified on & started GF August 18, 2005 |

<Running around with hair on fire> My wedding is 2 weeks from today and I am trying to get the last minute items in place. Pretty much all of my attention has been focused on that. Just found out that one of my finance's childhood friends that he forgot to invite is coming. Not a big deal - we have plenty of room at one of the "groom" tables and haven't sent the final headcount to the caterer yet.
Now the only things we really have left to do are assemble the favors and pack for the honeymoon. (We're going to Hawaii).
I will post pictures once we get back. (Maybe in the September Checking In)

I'll check in now that month is almost half over!
Since many of you mentioned homeschooling, I'll start there. This is the first year since 1993 that I won't be homeschooling. My "little one" is off the college next week. Thankfully, she is spending her first semester at our local community college, but in January she is off to Kansas City. (Mommy is crying in her heart at the thought of her baby girl leaving home, but also realizes that her baby has matured to quite a self- sufficient young woman.) She decided that since she has never been in a classroom situation, she would like to start here on familiar ground with lots of friends for support. She attended the BSU (Baptist Student Union) activities all last year, so she has lots of friends at school already.
My new job (Is it still new? I've been there since April) is going well, but I still haven't adjusted to meal planning and housework while working outside the home. This is something I must get a handle on, especially since DD won't be here to fill in the gaps much longer.
I'm getting tested on Monday (8/13) for CD and blood sugar. Whatever the results show, I really have to let go of 75 to 100 lbs of me. Perhaps then I'll have enough energy to do the job and the family care. (Poor Dad has been getting pretty bored with the lame GF fare I've been feeding him lately.)
That's it for now. I'll post something later when I get some blood test results back.
Enjoy what's left of your summer. I hope you are cooler than we are here. Still supposed to be over 100 for the next few days. |

Loved the chickens! Wish I still had some... sadly apartment life does not allow them. Maybe if we get a house sometime in the future.....
I am back after a long hiatus.. German courses start soon, unsure how soon, and I am now a "Legal Alien" (Not to be confused with "illegal alien") residing in Germany. W00T!
I get tired really easy, but I think that is now that I have completely restricted my diet and am eating more fresh foods and making *everything* (yes, everything!) from scratch.
I am learning how to function without a kitchen (long story, ask me for my facebook link if you really wanna know) and how to make food with the limited amounts of kitchen appliances I do have. L O L
The weather has been funky, but I guess that is to be expected.. and I have yet to see summer since leaving the States.
I'll be seeing youse guys some more now that I found the link again [/i] _________________
