I was just recently diagnosed and can't seem to find a bread that I like.
I have tried the brown and white rice bread but found them to be tough.
I would appreciate any suggestions that anyone has including the type and brand and where you can find it. According to my nutrionist, I need to increase my consumption of carbohydrates but I haven't been able to find good bread and the GF pasta is mushy.

Hi Lacey,

Ahhh yes...the quest to find a good bread and pasta replacement. Smile

I usually get mixes that my wife makes for me (bless her heart!) or she makes it from scratch - the recipe is posted out here somewhere. My favorite mixes are Gluten Free Pantry Favorite Sandwich Bread mix and Manna From Anna. Manna from Anna is the closest to wheat bread - per my wife Wink I don't know if I know what wheat bread tastes like anymore.

For pasta...#1 is Bi-Aglut (Corn & maybe soy), #2 Tinkyada (Rice). The BA spaghetti is VERY hard to tell the difference! I really like their Penne. I get the Tinky Fettecinni mostly.

We usually get the bread mixes at health food stores. Large grocery stores like carry some of the GF mixes, but you'd probably find a larger selection at a health food store. Wild Oats, Whole Foods - those are good places to go to for GF things.

Many gf pastas do turn to mush! I was very disappoint with my very 1st attempt at GF pasta. You need LOTS of water when boiling and never leave it when it's in the pot. I know that Bi-Aglut takes about 6 mins to be done to my taste (aldente') and the Tinky is 5 or so. But I am always tasting it so know when it's done.

I hope this helps...let us know if you find something good!! Smile
