I have alot of questions but first some background. I started losing weight about 8mo ago. I am down from my normal size 12 to a ridiculous 4. I'm tall 5'10". Im anemic and all my Vitamin and minerals are low. we are trying very hard to get GF and super healthy.
But I keep getting Gluten.
In class one day I ate aceaser salad. My gut started screaming, I bloated up like an ethiopian kid and my tounge starts burning and felt big. Ive noticed over the past year my tounge feeling to big and I actually lisp words if not very careful.

Anyone else suffer the tounge lisp?

Any advice for gaining some weight and upping my vitamins levels?

Hi,

If CD is the problem, your intestines must heal in order to absorb nutrients properly. It certainly sounds possible that CD might be the issue, but without testing, it's hard to know what's going on.

The salad more than likely was not GF. Eating out is very risky. It could be the dressing and/or the chicken that contains gluten. Your tongue swelling almost sounds like an allergic reaction to something. Did you have trouble breathing? Do you have a seafood or fish allergy? I think traditional Caeser dressing has anchovies in it. Maybe wheat, maybe dairy, maybe eggs... Allergic reactions are not something to ignore. Depending on your sensitivity - it could kill you!

Have you seen a doctor about this?

Glossitis (swollen tongue) is on the list of symptoms that may indicate celiac. I'm not saying it is a guarantee, but it can be an indicator.

You really should see an allergist and have allergy testing done. If this is an allergy, you could develop a worse reaction in the future.

Are you taking vitamins? Some vitamins are not gluten free. You need to probably take extra B12 to help with the anemia. What does your dr. say about the weight loss and the anemia? Is he still checking to see what is causing this? If not, then you need to find a dr. that will keep at this until you get an answer.

I noticed in one of your other posts that you had the testing done and it was negative for CD. Were you still consuming gluten before the testing? If not, that can skew the results.

Please take care with the reactions. Welcome to the board and ask away with the questions. This is how we all have learned how to navigate and learn how to take care of our food issues.

They are still in the process of passing me from dr to dr. I have a life history of depression, IBS, hemmorroids at 12. Sorry gross. When my hubby was diagnosed diabetic we went on a no carb diet to lower his blood sugar. It was 500 and he was very sick. After a few months when he got better I fell off the wagon. That when I started losing weight. After a lifetime of constipation I suddenly went 4-5 times a day. After a few months of that I began with the nausea. Now I am underweight and deficiant on all my vitamins and minerals.
If I could stay home I could go GF. But Ive never been able to stay GF long enough to feel "cure" maybe 2 weeks without a slip up. The yo-yo is driving me crazy. Feel great-slip up and get gluten-feel like crap-etc.etc.
If its not celiacs I wish theyd find what it is before I get any worse.
