I'm sorry if this has already been discussed somewhere else, but I have no idea how to find out if it has.
I was just wondering, I've been gluten free for almost a week now, and was casein free until I decided to try some yogurt yesterday. Bad idea.
Spent the rest of the day visiting the toilet, was up all night with a fever and incredibly loudly rumbling stomach and now I've woken up with a rash over both legs. I'm just wondering if the rash is at all related. It's ridiculously itchy, to the point where I'm scratching some of the skin off my legs. Perhaps I was just bitten by something, perhaps it's related. I have no idea.
Any help would be appreciated : ) _________________ - Amy

I have NO idea, but did want to say I'm so sorry you're going through that -- sounds horrid!
Could be related to yogurt, or just a coincidence (something else that's affecting you?). Have you been out and about, gotten into anything (plants? Insects?)? I know it's summer there . . . THINK!
Poor you . . . what can you try to take the torture out? Have you tried just an antihistmine tablet for starters? To see if it's an allergy to something? Maybe a thought.

I've never had anything that extreme as far as a rash, but when I used to eat dairy for years and years, I would eat it for three days on, three days off. Because after three days of dairy, I would get a rash on my face and if I kept eating dairy, then it would get worse and get itchy. And, yes it took me doing this for years before I suddenly said, "hey! My body doesn't like dairy. I should go off of it."
Anyway, what you described with the fever and the rash on your legs sounds much worse. Sorry I can't help. |

That's Ok. I know none of us are doctors here, just thought I'd ask if anyone had the same thing happen.
I was talking to a chap this afternoon who was telling me about artificial sweeteners, it's got me thinking that perhaps that is what caused this rash. I still think the dairy caused the tummy troubles though. _________________ - Amy

Thanks for the links Al. Interesting.
I'm not certain if other dairy products give the same reaction, I'm not really game enough to try after last night. _________________ - Amy

Something similar happens to some people when the ingest gluten. I second what Al said. Maybe you could pick a weekend when you're not going anywhere to try again, this time with different types of dairy. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

I had some milk yesterday. Visited the bathroom at least once every few minutes for a while, and have woken this morning with a rash on my neck that feels itchy and hot (I used to get this a lot last year). My fever was also alive and well yesterday, not so bad today.
I've also just been on a purchasing spree, and now have myself all my own new appliances and cookware. I'm going to store all my food/cookware in my own area and keep a certain part of the kitchen for my food preparation.
Hopefully this will do the trick.
Thanks everybody for the helpful advice Much appreciated. _________________ - Amy

Hi, I'm new to this site, having just been tested positive for celiac disease I'm trying to find out as much info as I can. I too have a rash on my legs and arms. The Doc attributes this to celiac. I aslo have chronic fatigue, feel sick if I have too much milk (down to skimmed milk now as all the rest upset my stomach). I have to keep eating normally until I have had an endoscopy that should confirm the results of the blood test. If your rash is similar to mine, it could be from your diet, you need to see a doc and ask. If it is then there is nothing that will get rid of it except a change in diet. I believe there is a cream called Dapsone that helps but not tried it myself yet. Good luck.

Hi, Lyonspam. You might want to poke around the Dermatitis Herpeteformis section of the forum. You might find some helpful info there. _________________ -Colleen

Thanks Colleen, will give it a whirl. At this stage I'm grateful for any info. The medics keep me waiting for different tests. At least once the tests are all done, I can do something positive. Had the problem for a number of years now and hopefully this will get me better.
