My daughter just called.

She's due the first of April (with a girl they'll call Sofie), and has been very sick the whole pregnancy (lost 27 pounds, been hospitalised, even had to take drugs normally given to chemo patients just to try to combat the nausea). Well, the 'morning' sickness finally left her, and she has begun to eat (the midwife wanted her to at least try to get back to her pre-pregnancy weight). But for the past week or two she's been having headaches, excessive thirst, etc. She finally saw the midwife and was diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

I know, there are worse things . . . and I'm sure she'll be fine, but as a mum, I of course worry about her. She's had enough of all this nonsense and just thought that once she was over the worst of the nausea, and now she could ride out the rest of her pregnancy easily.

Anyway, please send some positive vibes, good thoughts, or prayers her way?

(Her biggest worry right now is actually the size of the baby -- her last one was almost 9 pounds without her having diabetes! And in Holland they don't believe in hospital births, epidurals, etc. Natural all the way! Confused )

Anyway, thanks for your thoughts for her.
