I've been glutened, but I admit, it was my own stupid fault. Things had been going so well when I went away this week. I made sure to pack lots of things for my trip away, and bought only simple foods like sushi when we went out. I managed to avoid gluten the entire time.
Then when I returned home tired, and awoke this morning still tired, I decided to have some baked beans on toast for breakfast. I read the label and it looked as though it contained no gluten. I thought it was my lucky day. I've been feeling terrible all day. My stomach has gone crazy, got most of my symptoms back and feeling a little Blergh.
This made me think... what would be the best way to get this gluten out of my system? I mean I can't do anything at the moment. It's tough just trying to write this because I can't concentrate on anything. I can't sit still, I can't concentrate, I can't move much or I feel like I'm going to hurl, and I can't sleep because the pain in my stomach is too much.
So there ain't much left to do. But I have to be healthy for this week because I am going down to my new uni to enrol and register and I need to be in fine form for the trip there. So I wondered what it is you folk do that makes you feel better when you've been glutened?
I thought perhaps just eating fruit and vegetables and nothing else would help my stomach cope. And drinking plenty of fluids. But I guess you all have more experience than I do.
What do you do? Do you simply put up with it all, or do you take a few panadol and rest all day?
Thanks in advance guys. _________________ - Amy

| There's no quick cure to gluten exposure. You'll have to suffer through the symptoms and let time do it's job. If you think the symptoms will be lessoned by a panadol then take one, but are they GF? |

I try to eat really simply for awhile (baked chicken, cereal, etc) and just wait it out. TEC's right: there's no quick cure. I'm sorry you're not feeling well.  _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

I agree w/ Os and TEC, and will add lots and lots of water, maybe some ibuprofen if your tummy can handle it. _________________ Nance

I agree with the lots of water. It helps flush it out - you'll still feel miserable for a bit but not as long as if you're not drinking fluids. Sometimes I'll have a Gatoraid after getting sick which helps replace fluids from vomiting and the big D that usually denotes a reaction for me. _________________ Cheers!
