I was diagnosed with DH by skin biopsy in Jan. I had my hair colored in Dec as usual...but my scalp got terribly dry in Dec, Jan. I'm due for another color treatment but I called Redken and all their dyes that my stylist uses contain wheat. Has anyone run into hair dye giving them problems with DH...and has anyone found any dyes that don't contain gluten?
Thanks, Rachel |

The last time I had my hair colored I had not been dx'd, though I was in the process. I have DH, but the dye did not give me any problems. At the time I did not know to ask about gluten in things like hair dye, so I don't know if it had wheat or not. I will ask my stylist the next time I see her. If it doesn't contain wheat, I'll find out what brand it is.
Even though I had DH at the time of my last color, the DH wasn't in my scalp. It is now though, after the last time I got glutened. It's finally calming down.

Some people do get skin reactions from touching wheat-based products. Was your scalp simply dry? Or did it get really red and itchy? It could be simply because of the winter weather. But if you really want to be safe I'd try to find another brand of GF hair dye. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={
