Hey guys, you all have been working hard, I see. I am newly diagnosed and checking the kitchen condiments for gf status. Every company that I need to check for gf status, already had the answer on the website.

Well, ALMOST every company; I have had to email a few.

This is one organized consumer group. I am thankful to benefit from the labors of earlier celiacs.

Moreover, many restaurants in my area, Boulder/Denver, CO seem to have a pretty high understanding and teach their staff, and/or have separate menus for GF.

I also have chemical sensititivites and had to do this with basically every non-edible consumable product as well, and it was brutal. Most of those types of products do not disclose ingredients (not required by law) they are either protecting trade secrets or hiding toxic ingredients. They would never post "unsafe for people with chemical sensitvities" on their web sites! It takes a long time to figure out the forbidden list, as well, as some chemicals combine to create other chemicals, like formaldehyde. It might not be listed, but some chemcials are "formaldehyde releasers" and result in formaldehyde.

Unfortunately, on this end, instead of becoming more and more aware, products like detergents and fabric softener or cigarettes are stronger and stronger. However, I did see at the hospital entrance today that Latex balloons were forbidden. That surely is related to allergies.

Gosh, I missed this the 1st time around...

THANKS! We're just doing our jobs ma'am Wink We have to be organized [if you'd see our back room, you think otherwise] and informed. If not, we'd not be doing very well. Knowledge mean Health. The more we know, the better we'll feel. Smile

It's kind of a never ending task. Just because a product was GF the day we posted about it - doesn't mean it's GF when you read it. Product formulations can and do change quickly, often without notice. This forces us to always be on our toes. This means constantly reading labels and call mfgs for updates. However, once you get to know certain companies labeling practices, contacting them becomes less as you can just read the labels.
