Well, May is half over and I am finally recovering from the stress of my DD's wedding....all went well...My DD was beautiful....and blissfully happy.....Ina did get sick despite all of my efforts and the extreme efforts of my sweet friend who was the caterer...she prepared all of Ina's food ahead of time and stored it in it's own containers and served her separately...sooo frustrating...so, I don't believe it happened at the wedding, I think it happened earlier that day...she is sometimes a handful, so a good friend of mine kept her all day until a few hours prior to the wedding and she took her out to eat at a restaurant that we go to sometimes and ordered tamales with no cheese and no chili, I really think that is where it happened, b/c one time last summer she reacted after we ate there, no more Abuelo's !!!......she obviously got gluten and casein....she had a full blown reaction with the big D, vomiting, and GROUCHY (which comes with the milk reaction) along with the mouth ulcers that also come with the milk reaction....Oh well.....Thankfully she is feeling better now...
On another note....my flower beds are in full bloom and really look good this year, ...my veggie garden is doing well, there are tomatoes on the vines, green beans should be ready to be picked soon, squash is blooming...we have already enjoyed banana peppers...we took the month of April off of school because of the wedding and so we will continue until the end of June...but it has been so pretty outside that we have been sitting at the picnic table for the kids to do their work...they have really enjoyed that... _________________ Connie, mom to Ina, 13 y/o with CD |

Our offer was accepted and we are in the process of buying a house. The home inspection is this week - we are scheduled to sign the P&S early next week. Going to be a busy summer....

May has been a busy month for us. My husband and his brother have been putting 2 decks on our house - one in the front and one in the back. Like all home improvement projects, it is taking twice as long and costing twice as much as we originally thought. it will be really nice once it gets done, though.
We got some wonderful news this week. Sean got a schollarship to go to Celiac camp this summer! I had a message on my VM at work from Cynthia Kupper of the GIG to tell me the good news. I am so relieved. I wasn't sure how we were going to come up with the $300.
Our garden is in full swing. My rhubarb is almost ready. My mouth is already watering for some rhubarb pie or rhubarb sauce over vanilla ice cream. The raspberries have really multiplied so we should have a good crop of those as well. We planted the tomatoes and peppers this weekend, and the pumpkins are starting to come up. I need to take a sick day to spend more time outside.
I got myself sucked into a granny square exchange a few weeks ago, despite the fact that I did not know how to crochet. I checked out some books from the library amd taught myself a few stitches. here are some of my recent squares. I am having a lot of fun using different colorways on these patterns.

Hey Colleen, I am impressed! Those are very good for someone who didn't know how to crochet! I do not know how you have time to do all that you do... _________________ Connie, mom to Ina, 13 y/o with CD |

Ah ha! I was beginning to worry about you Colleen. You've been a bit scarce as of late. I can see why now! Very cool! I used to crochet - my Mom taught me when I was a kid. However, I'd only do really long chains. I s'pose you could think of it as a really skinny scarf. _________________ Al

I had to comment on this. I can knit anything (as long as it's flat. ex: blankets, scarves, etc), but I could never for the life of me figure out how to crochet. My grandma started teaching me, but I guess she never taught me how to link them because all I ever did was really long chains. I remember doing an entire skein of yarn when I was 10 or something, and I was so proud, but no one understood what I was going to do with a big pile of crocheted yarn. I showed them when I unraveled it and did the whole thing again. |

Awesome Colleen! I was wondering where you went as well. Please post an update once camp is done. Let us know how it goes. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={
