Godfather's Press Release 8/18/2008:
Gluten-free pizza comes to Godfather’s Pizza beginning Tuesday August 26, 2008
Godfather’s Pizza, a nation-wide chain based in Omaha, Nebraska begins test marketing gluten-free pizza on Tuesdays, exclusively at the 108th and Maple Street location in Omaha.
Pizza crusts featured in Godfather’s Pizza Gluten-free Pizzas are made by Domata Living Flour, a CSA Recognition Seal participating company. Each crust is placed in a disposable pan and remains in that pan throughout the topping, baking, cutting and serving of the gluten-free pizza. This process aids in maintaining Godfather’s Pizza and Domata’s standards for gluten-free. Godfather’s Pizza has selected and reviewed all pizza topping ingredients including meat, cheese and sauce to ensure the absence of Wheat, Barley, Rye, Oats (WBRO).
Godfather’s Pizza Got Gluten-Free Right! Procedures are in place to eliminate cross contact with WBRO grains in the preparation of Godfather’s Pizza gluten-free pizzas. Working with the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness Director of Education, Nancy Baker, and GREAT Guide, Beckee Moreland of Celiac Sprue Association, Star City Chapter #40, Godfather’s Pizza is participating in the GREAT (Gluten Free Resource Education Awareness Training) Kitchen Program. GREAT Kitchen offers a gluten-free kitchen protocol training program for chefs, kitchen operators, and restaurateurs who would like to correctly serve gluten-free food to their customers. Kitchens become certified through a distance learning program.
Following the August launch in Omaha, Godfather’s Pizza plans to expand its offerings of gluten-free pizza to its restaurants throughout the country as training is completed.
Godfather’s Got Gluten-Free Right! It’s an offer you can’t refuse!
Exclusively at 3141 North 108th Street, Omaha location providing dine in, carryout and delivery 402-493-3833. _________________ Patti

I can die now. I can die now and it would be all right.
You will be hearing back from me about this, oh yes.
Edited to add: Where did you get this from? I can't seem to find the official press release. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Hey Al, you should make some business cards for the board. I'll be pimping this place tonight at Godfather's.
(I think our Omaha chapter will be there at some point.) _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

My belly is full of Godfather's GF pepperoni pizza. I am a fat, happy ostrich. Like Buddha, except more feathers.
The pizza was delicious! I was hoping some would make it home. I was apparently too desperate to get good GF pizza that I didn't notice it was gone.
I had a nice long chat with the lady in charge of the GF stuff (from corporate). All the stuff they talked about in the newsletter is true. There's a separate table for GF pizzas, including toppings. The pizza never leaves the tray, and they put special GF stickers on everything. The GF menu is even separate from the regular menu (all the items are GF), though it's different than what Al posted. Several other people came in while we were eating. They all raved about the pizza too.
The corporate lady is trying to spread the word and get other Godfather's involved. Apparently it depends if the restaurant is owned by the corporation or is franchised. Corporation can enforce the rules. Franchises can't.
She was also experimenting with appetizers and dessert pizza. She said they both tasted great, but she can't vouch for the ingredients yet. She'll keep working on it. I gave her a card for this board (she said there's so many GF groups to keep track of) and thanked her for all the work.
Downsides:
- The price. A 9" GF pizza is $10. It's the same price as a regular pizza, but $10 seems a little high to me.
- The crust. Don't get me wrong: I love thin crusts, and theirs was awesome. But it doesn't hold up to oil very well. Just FYI if you order lots of meat (or don't like thin crusts).
And now, pizza pr0n!
So...very....good.....
The little GF sticker I was talking about. It goes on the receipt and on the box.
Comparison shot. My pizza on the right, DH's pizza on the left.
*burp* They even make sure you have plenty of packets of cheese and red pepper flakes. No CC from the shakers. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Makes me want pizza instead of chicken stirfry
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
Thanks for the report!! I believe the GF No CC logo is a CSA logo. I think I read above that CSA was involved.
Hey - how did the board pimping go? _________________ Al

I'm curious about the end result of this as well. I told her she should tell corporate to make all the Godfather's do this. She will, but it also helps to spread the word. And yes, the CSA was involved. They helped organize and train the employees.
I forgot to mention....you can also get take-n-bake GF pizzas. They come with special instructions for freezing/reheating.
The other Celiacs in the restaurant left pretty quickly, so I didn't get a chance to hand them the cards. But I did give one to Victoria (the corporate lady). I told her I'd be posting a very positive review.
Edited to add: Since everybody seems to want GF Godfather's, I'd recommend giving Victoria a call: 402-391-1452. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Oh, man that looks good. I really hope they bring that to a Godfathers near me. I seem to remember that I loved their sauce better than most other pizza chains. _________________ -Colleen

WOW that looks amazing! The price is high, but heck, I pay $8 for a frozen Amy's pizza that we then DR up to make better with good toppings!
I told my son if Godfather's here gets this, we will be eating out pizza often! He is really hoping this happens!

I kept closing my eyes and trying to chew slowly. DH was laughing at me the whole time.
I highly suggest emailing the company and asking when/if this'll come to a Godfather's near you. The more positive feedback, the better.
If it doesn't happen, you now have an excuse to come visit me. We'll feast on Godfather's and Biaggi's.  _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

I'll GLADLY pay $2 more than what an Amy's pizza costs to get one with real cheese!
Sorry, I hate soy cheese. It makes me sad.
Although I've eaten out so infrequently lately that it now seems strange to trust someone else to prepare my food anymore. _________________ Lauren
