|
How it works:
1. Colleen (cruelshoes) starts a thread asking if people want to do a GF Secret Santa.
2. If so, post in that thread that you're interested and PM your personal information (real name and address) to Colleen.
3. Once the deadline hits for sign-ups, the thread is temporarily locked. During this time Colleen uses a random number generator (or throws all the names in a hat) to match people up.
4. Colleen then PMs everybody with their SS (forum name, real name and address), possibly updates the thread with "PMed everybody".
5. After Christmas is over and everybody's opened their gifts, the thread is unlocked. This lets people talk and try to figure out who their SS is.
Rules:
- By posting in the thread you agree that it's OK to send Colleen your personal information. And Colleen agrees to not share it with anybody besides your SS.
- No gifts over (roughly) $10. If you can't afford $10 a simple card will be fine.
- All gifts must be related to being gluten free. Gift ideas: books, gift certificates to stores that sell GF items, funny items with GF sayings on them, etc.
- No home-made food allowed. Pre-packaged GF food is OK (Tinky, KK, EnviroKids, etc). This will help avoid any CC worries.
- If you have any other allergies/intolerances/food issues please send that info to Colleen too.
- Cut-off date for sign-ups and PMs to Colleen is November 30th.
- All packages must be shipped by December 15th. This will ensure they get there by Christmas.

Sounds like fun. I would be willing to be "person A" if nobody else wants to do it. $10 sounds like a reasonable amount to me.
Anyone else up for it? _________________ -Colleen

Rules updated! The SS is on!
Count me in of course. I also added a list of people who are participating. I'll update the list as more people sign up. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

I'm wondering if people with multiple food sensitivities should put that in the info they give Colleen to help their SS make decisions. Maybe people who have food restrictions (for want of my brain coming up with a better term) because of religious convictions should do this too.
I think this is going to be fun! _________________ Steph |

I am not very creative.....are there more suggestions pointing a person in the direction of gluten free suggestions? I mean, you mentioned gift certs, but like me, I don't live anywhere need a place that specializes in that kind of thing.
Maybe I just need a little more help to get me thinking!

You could always find something on Amazon and have it shipped to the person, though I'm not sure if Amazon will mask the address it's coming from.

I would think anything for the kitchen would be great. I got some of my silicone baking mats that I use constantly for less than $10. There is so much cute kitchen stuff out there - especially the silicone stuff.
If there is some type of food that is local to where you live that is GF, that might be fun. It would expose us to regional foods and be a nice present.
Maybe a GF mix and something to go with it (cupcake papers or something for baking). _________________ -Colleen
