| I know this has been discussed a bit, and I also know there are GF chewing gums. Wondered if anyone else seems to have symptoms similar to gluten after chewing sugar free gums that are supposed to be GF (like Orbit)? I am still working to decipher what the problem foods are and this seems to be one. If so, did switching to a different gum help? Thanks for letting me know! |

I have huge problems with artificial sweeteners. I get queasy and bubbly feeling if I chew gum, and if I eat or drink anything that has it, it always comes back up. I avoid it like the plague, so I can't describe my symptoms in great detail because I don't remember. I haven't tried it since I went gluten-free, so I don't know if my reaction is very similar. |

I have a lot of trouble with artificially sweetened gums, so have given up. I get that stomach "lurch" when I chew them. No nausea, just that queasy feeling. _________________ Nance

Thank you so much! I appreciate all of you and your stories - it is helping me figure this out little by little.
I spent part of my first GF Thanksgiving racking my brain trying to figure out what had crept in and created "the rumbles" as we call it...it makes me feel like my intestines have transformed into a lava lamp!
The two possibilities were - gum or cheese that had Annatto (sp?). Everything I read says annatto shouldn't be the issue. But...no more gum or annatto and I am finally feeling myself again. Ready for some GF thksgiving leftovers! |
