Can there be legumes allergy due to damage caused by Gluten?
I'm implicating Gluten in-directly as a cause. |

Hi Bob,
I ended up avoiding legumes for quite awhile. This was last year after I quit dairy, soy and all the other grains. Legumes are high in lectins, and scrape (for lack of a better word) your intestines, creating mucous, to keep things moving. That is not what you want to do to your gut if it is healinng from gluten damage.
I have found that I can now eat some beans in small amounts, when ground up in bean dip or hummus, with little problem. If I eat too many beans I can tell - lovely side effects like gas and increased "output". Peas, green beans and peanut butter weren't as big a deal, though I am currently trying life without peanut butter to see if I can lose a little weight (I was eating a lot of PB), and to try to reduce overall inflammatory effects.
So, yes, you may be experiencing some issues with legumes due to gut damage and/or increased sensitivity. _________________ Nance
