Sean came home with a half-eaten lunch earlier this week. Normally he is a kid that finishes every last morsel, so I asked him about it. He said "Mom, some creepy little kid dumped a whole bunch of cookie crumbs into my lunch box, so I didn't think it was safe to finish it."
I am sending bad juju thoughts to creepy little cafeteria kids now. But secretly proud of my son for thinking through things and not eating food that may have been unsafe. _________________ -Colleen

Way to go Sean!!
The question is...did creepy kid do it on purpose...or just because it seemed like a good idea at the time? If he's little - probably doesn't know any better.
Perhaps Sean can set him on the bubbler [aka drinking fountain] or give him a "swirlie"... LOL _________________ Al

Kids can be pretty mean...but maybe he thought it would be funny- not realizing the implications. It's really great though that Sean was so smart about it! _________________ Rachel |

You should be proud of your son! He handled it well.
I'm thinking it would be good to schedule a talk with "C.L.K." and some school staff (no one else needs to know - especially other kids) and explain to him that such antics are not just harmless fun. Perhaps he meant to be mean and perhaps he was just being a goofball, but either way he needs to be told that some foods make some people very very sick. What if he had dumped peanut butter cookie crumbs into the lunch box of a kid who was deathly allergic to peanuts?

It's seems highly unlikely that any school district would allow another student's parent 'discuss' a situation with a CLK type. Seems to me if anything Colleen should discuss the situation with the classroom teacher.
Colleen,
Unfortunately, bullies start young. It makes me sad that this mean spirited child ruined Sean's lunch. How proud you must be that he knew not to eat the rest of his lunch. You've done a good job in teaching him! |

Yikes! I didn't mean just Colleen and "C.L.K." ! Guess I wasn't specific enough. Definitely some school staff needs to be there, whether it's C.L.K.'s teacher, Sean's teacher, the cafeteria monitor, the principal, whoever. _________________ Sandi ~ learning to live in a world obsessed and infested with wheat.

I talked to Sean about it, and he thinks the CLK was just being a generalized butt hole, and wasn't singling him out for the cookie crumbs. Seems like this CLK has a history of stuff like this. He is going to make an effort to sit away from the little crumb dropper in the future. Annoying little bugger! _________________ -Colleen
