I can't tell you how sad I am that my favorite hot dogs (Nathan's) have corn and wheat gluten in them!!!! Now that it's sum-sum-summertime and I want to fire up the grill, what do I do for hot dogs?!
Anybody have a favorite gf hotdog they'd be willing to pimp out here? _________________ Love,

Exclamation points liek woah
I use Hebrew National hot dogs. Their parent company is ConAgra, which is GF-friendly. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

I cannot refrain from saying: hot dogs are nasty. I used to eat them, willingly. When I went GF, the hot dogs went too. _________________ Nance

hah! I hated them until I tasted the Nathan's. Then, I was addicted!! (Perhaps it was the gluten?! )
Now, to get to work on the buns....hmm... any suggestions on the buns? _________________ Love,

Nathan's used to be the only hot dogs I would eat, and that only rarely. I don't eat any now. _________________ Steph |

| Boar's Head hot dogs are great and gluten free! You can try Ener-g hot dog buns, but they don't hold together very well. |

I believe most people make their own hot dog buns. You can take your favorite bread mix and pipe it out into a bun shape.
I'd stay away from Ener G buns. They probably taste like packing peanuts. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

| I never was a big fan of hotdogs to begin with. Since going gluten-free, I've probably eaten.... 2-3 hotdogs in the course of 2.5 years. Half of it has to do with the lack of buns. Anyone have a nice bun recipe? |

I wonder if the bread wraps would work? _________________ Steph |

They work for me and my Johnsonville Brats or BallPark Franks!
Ball Park's are from SaraLee, known for disclosing all things gluten on their label. _________________ Al

I eat a local brand Zwiegel's or a Wegmans brand, (a local supermarket mostly upstate NY but also a few stores from NYC down to Virginia area) that are GF and a toasted Glutino bagel for a bun. _________________ Mike |

Buffalo hotdogs, as mentioned in the old thread, are yummy!
Hotdogs were one of the first foods I looked up since ds's favorite food had "wheat gluten" as the second ingredient.
From their website, Bar-S is gluten-free and Oscar Meyer also has some. OM is a Kraft company and they are diligent about gluten labelling aren't they?
SOme of the chicken sausages have milk or cheese in them so I can't have them... yet.
We will try the Hebrew Nat'l's if we can find them.
My son actually _likes_ the packing peanut hot dog buns from Ener-G. There have to be some better ones out there that I can use when I'm not baking. We have a regional bakery called "The Twisted Bakery" that makes GF breads so I'll see if they have some edible hd buns. _________________ son - high ttg - 4/09, pos. biopsy 5/09

We LOVE Hebrew Nationals. There is one that mrsppmrxky gets that is different, but I cannot remember the name. They were free of sulfites, salyclates (SP?) and corn... you would have to ask her which one it was. I remember seeing it, but the name didn't stick
I don't eat mine with a bun anymore. I just slice it up like you would for a toddler and eat it with ketchup, mayo, mustard and a side of chips. _________________
