If there is already a post about this, I apologize. When I searched, I did not find one. Has anyone been to this place yet?

AMAZING! We were out on the bike Sunday and drove past the one in Pewaukee, WI and decided to stop in and see the menu as I had heard I could eat the fries there.

The employees were super helpful and proceeded to tell us that nothing is added to the beef or fries. And their fryers are JUST fries! I had the 1/4 lb burger on a lettuce bun w/tomato and ketchup/mustard. Delish! And the fries... oh the fries! I have only had fries once in the year and a half since diagnosis and they were fabulous. (not counting Ore Ida's of course) They are nice and thick and actually taste like potato.

They were great about changing gloves and the cooking areas are separate, so buns only go with buns, burgers only with burgers and toppings on the other grill. A warning for anyone with nut allergies...they do have peanuts in the shell available to eat while you hang out, and they have a warning on the door asking folks to please not take the nuts out of the restaurant due to severe allergic reactions of some in the community.

Here is their website http://www.fiveguys.com/index.aspx it says right on the home page, NO gluten, except for our buns. I had to verify of course to make sure I can indulge in bacon and mushrooms next time, so I called this morning and the nice man verified that there is NO gluten in any of their items, except their buns.

Some of you may have already found this wonderful place, it made my day! There are several locations in Wisconsin and they are popping up all over the country. Although I try to stick to a healthy diet, this will be a nice treat once in a while. Enjoy! Very Happy

We go to one all the time in York, PA. They don't even blink when I ask for a burger - no bun. I love it!

Thanks for the tip! One of those just opened up a short walk from my work. I may have to check it out sometime.

Yes, we have one by my office, too. I accompanied my team there a couple of weeks ago, and even though it says "NO GLUTEN (except for the buns)" right there on the menu, I couldn't order anything...everything was FAR too greasy. I don't eat fast food unless I'm starving, and I just couldn't do it here...the grease soaked through the bags. I was completely disgusted for the rest of the day and ended up skipping lunch altogether.

Skipping lunch...I can't even imagine. I love food too much. ha! Different strokes for different folks I guess. You would def not have wanted to be at a WI Fish Fry with cheese curds then! Wink

I ate at 5 Guys today with one of the members of my support group (celiac is a great way to make friends.) Very Happy My burger was great, and it tasted like real meat. My only (small) gripe was that it was served on a piece of foil on a bed of shredded lettuce, not wrapped in a lettuce leaf. So there was a fork and knife required to eat it. Not a major gripe, but it wasn't what I expected. I did not find it overly greasy, but it was nice and juicy.

My dining companion is nightshade intolerant, so I did not get any fries. I didn't want to torture her. Very Happy They sure smelled good, though. We did share a dish of peanuts, which was a nice treat.

I was satisfied with this restaurant, and would eat there again.

Hey Colleen~ glad you enjoyed it! If you ask them, they will grab you whole leaf lettuce from the back, which hasn't been shredded yet. Actually, at the one I go to, they always get my fresh toppings from the cooler. Then they do the foil wrap to ensure no CC issues, which is great! The fries are amazing, but very nice of you to refrain. Smile
