We just read this again last night and I was reminded of a couple things. First, my ds has X'ed out McDonald's french fries as they are NOT gluten-free until further notice. The book still had it listed as GF. The book does make the point that you have to keep checking ingredients. and the book is probably best aimed at grade-school age, pre-teen and maybe tween children.
Also, there are a couple of other books that are helpful too, especially if you have a younger child, my son is 7 at this time. There's "Eating Gluten Free with Emily" which was excellent to read thru before the biopsy.

This one's geared a bit better for the preK to 1st or 2nd grade crowd. We borrowed it from the library so I don't recall too much but it did show Emily in hospital.
and U of Chicago's Celiac Gift basket had "The Trouble THat Jack Had" in it
http://www.amazon.com/TROUBLE-THAT-JACK-HAD/dp/B000XSLCAG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1250431092&sr=1-1
which is ok, not great, but there again is another true-story of a child with celiac so my ds really gets that he is not alone in this. _________________ son - high ttg - 4/09, pos. biopsy 5/09
