Quite a few years ago I had a Palm Treo. It has long since died and been thrown out. I would like something similar that I can sync to my PC and download files of safe and unsafe foods. I use only a Pay As You Go phone from AT+T so a fancy phone with an expensive monthly fee won't work. Does anyone make a memory card with its own display? That would be great. It is probably very obvious that I'm not very technically savy.

Recently diagnosed by labs and genetic tests--to be biopsied tomorrow.

I have not heard of one but check with several different carriers. A blackberry would solve your issues if you could come up with the $$$. Good Luck.

I don't know of anything like a USB stick with a display. However, I was able to get my old Palm (don't remember the number) for around $20. All it did was sync with my computer and keep simple things: contacts, lists, etc. Would that work? If so you could check out any computer store (like Best Buy). I would try closer to Christmas. They'll probably run some mega sales.

I feel REALLY low-tech now. I just printed lists and took them with me.

I am amazed at the abundance of GF information some supermarkets choose to publish online. My choice of local supermarkets is Wegman's. They have a decent dedicated aisle of GF items but if I want to know about something that is on the regular shelves, if I haven't thought to look it up at home and write doen the information, I may not feel the label is clear enough that I wil buy it then. I have checked out Maine supermarkets because I will be there next week and will have to find safe food. I don't have the confidence to eat every meal in restaurants, and I have always picnicked as much as possible when traveling because it is a cheap way to eat. I will, as usual, take with me on my trip to Maine an ice chest and a very small microwave. Hanaford (ME supermarket) is like Wegmans because they have a very long list online of their own products which are GF. The Wegman's list is updated weekly and would take many pages to printout. Epson ink is rediculously expensive and I am not about to print the current list every time I shop. Downloading the list to a hand held device or a netbook is simple and can be updated in a matter of minutes. There are some lists on the 'net of brand names that I can also download. So--that is why I asked this question. Yesterday I wrote to Wegman's customer service and suggested they make available in their stores either free highspeed internet or a dedicated computer terminal for customers who have questions about their GF foods. So many people have internet access through their cell phones that there must be a fair number of customers who would use the free internet connection. For others like me, who carry and use a cell phone only fro emergencies, the dedicated screen would be appreciated. I have asked Wegman's customer service for special help in the past and they were wonderful and I can't wait to hear from them concerning my latest request.
