So...thanks to Jenn (ilovechocolate), I found a Celiac/Gluten-Free Meetup group in my area. Last night was the first "meeting" I attended, and they had Dr. Green as a guest speaker. It was truly awesome to get a chance to see him! Very Happy
At the same time, though, it AMAZED me (based on the questions people were asking) how un-informed the general public is about celiac and gluten intolerance. So, I guess this is an indirect way of saying how grateful I am to this forum for educating me (constantly!) and keeping me updated and in the know. You guys rock.
Dr. Green was a great speaker and took time to answer a TON of questions. I'd love to go and hear him speak again; I'd also love to pick that man's bran sometime--he has such a wealth of knowledge and information.

I am truly jealous that you got to hear him speak. I would also love to pick his brain.

It is amazing how little people know, isn't it? I wonder if he takes time speaking with actual doctors so the doctors we get to see could actually give us correct information rather than incorrect information. At my next appointment, I'm going to ask him exactly what he meant when he originally told me to "avoid" gluten. The word "avoid" to me says to be aware of it, but not necessarily eliminate it completely (which I have eliminated it completely).

I just received an email tonight--Dr. Green is speaking at our Nov support meeting. He does come here a few times a year, he is rather close to us though. He is a good speaker, and I would like to hear what he has to say since he has changed his thinking some!
