Hi All,
My Rheummy ran a whole load of tests due to joint and muscle aches & pains and one of the tests came back marked 'Coeliac Screen high'. Having looked it up - it didn't say what test exactly it was - it was just a test for Immunoglobulin A.
My GP has just said I tested positive for Coeliac & referred me to a Gastro Doc. BUT, having asked and read more I don't think this test is specific for coeliac at all and my Doc is talking rubbish.
I'm going to ask for another proper screening test and need to know what to ask for please.
Thanks

Go to a gastric doctor and he will know what to test you for and which test to run. Good Luck.... _________________ STZ

Ya, well I am in the UK and it doesn't work like that here. We have to start with a General Practitioner and then go from there. I'm guessing that if I get the nurse to tick the box for Coeliac screen then that should do the trick?
Thnaks for your response. |

One would think so, but that's not always the case. Often times docs will only run 1 or 2 tests out of a celiac panel, thus not giving the full picture of what's going on.

Thanks Teacherpat,
I'm just waiting for a call from my GP now to get her to run the tests. No idea what's going on with the lab marking a test for Immunoglobulin Aas a Coeliac Screen.
Almost worse is my GP isn't waware that it's not the right test.

OK so Doc is going to do the tTG and says thats all they do over here. I pointed out that apparently it can give a false positive with Hashimoto's that I have so she will write that on form.
The UK is not noted for thorough testing and always cuts corners when it can. |
