Oh. Mah. Gawd. I think I just found my new favorite restaurant. <3
One of the few things I miss being GF is eating at the natural restaurants in town. They serve some of the best food, but none of it is GF. When I heard natural and GF I was sold.
These guys are a tiny hole in the wall. The only reason I knew they existed was due to a GF ad on the radio. (And I damned near got in an accident trying to fiddle with the dials.)
DH and I checked it out last night. The cashier/waitress assured me that all GF meals are cooked on a clean, separate surface with clean utensils. They take great care to keep the NGF and GF stuff separate. The fries are baked, not fried (sadly, the onion rings are NGF). They offer GF buns, wraps and deserts.
DH got a BLT with sweet potato fries. I got the buffalo chicken wrap with regular fries. DH assured me that his meal was delicious. Mine was fantastic! The wrap was thin and flexible (I believe it's corn based), and the buffalo chicken was really tender. And the fries tasted like potatoes! Not grease and salt.
My stomach did react afterward, but I believe it's unhappy with the buffalo sauce. It didn't feel like a glutening (if that makes any sense). I'm not used to eating such spicy food.
Bonus! They offer GF deserts from the only GF bakery in town (just opened). I was too full to try them, but they looked delicious. I'll be hitting up the bakery soon.

Yay Os! Sounds like a great thing for you & DH. I think the lack of eating out has had a bigger effect on my marriage than all the other GF/food intol life changes.

Yes, but with all my other restrictions, I've given up on finding anyplace that can accommodate, except the occasional trip to a high-end steak house. By the time I'm done explaining my needs, I might as well have cooked my own dinner.

That really sucks, Nance. I'm sorry. Look on the bright side. You're saving a ton of money and you're probably eating healthier.
I went back to Blue Planet last night. (Dinner didn't turn out so hot and we have no other food in the house.) I got a cheeseburger on a GF bun and fries. The bun's interesting. It's incredibly soft and moist. Tastes like a cross between pumpernickel and whole grain. Really, really good. And the fries were excellent (again). Still no reaction (I react pretty quickly), so I'm going to bless this place as safe for Celiacs!
Note: Remember that NGF food is prepared here too. They do their best, but there's always a chance for cross contamination. Please be careful if you're very sensitive.
