|
|
Been gluten free for just under 2 months now and I have discovered my savior in the form of Raw Almonds for my withdrawal symptoms...
I have been ravenously hungry with wide swings in what feels like
low blood sugar....I nimble on them all day...at this point I am not
thinking about any weight issues I am just trying to get through the day!
Makes me wonder why this is...Protein? Minerals? Vitamins? Healthy Oils?
Who knows? |

My guess would be minerals. I've seen a lot of improvement will the multi mineral I take and adding extra magnesium. _________________ Lauren

I also ate a lot of almonds and walnuts in my early days of GF, craved them, in fact, and still enjoy them a lot. I think the EFA's and the trace minerals do help, plus the protein. I have a few Enjoy Life chocolate chips with them sometimes, and that makes me _________________ Nance

| hmm this is interesting. After being GF for a year, I was still experiencing hyperglycemic-like symptoms, very hungry, shaky, nervous, fatigue earlier in the summer.....but now that I think about it, the only real thing I changed in my diet was eating almonds. I love almonds! I didn't really eat many nuts for a long time, but this summer, started to eat almonds and walnuts. I haven't experienced those symptoms since the summer. Very interesting, I never really thought about what changed. I eat almonds daily! |

Almonds can be a great snack. They have healthy fats (although slightly lower in Omega 3 's than walnuts, they are still up there) and provide a bit of fiber. They also have iron, calcium (believe it or not) and magnesium and Vitamin E. Because of the high fat content they digest slowly, which can certainly help with hypoglycemic symptoms. I'd hazard to say it was all of these factors that helped! _________________ www.glutenfreefitness.com |
