Hello All- new guy here.

My dilemma is that i am completely gluten free but dont have an official celiac diagnosis. I definitely have 1 of the 2 genes and carry a maternal and paternal copy, which i believe makes me a heterozygote. My doctor said theres a 50% chance i have celiac.

Anyway, i never had an endoscopy and my blood test in 02 was negative, but that was right before i started developing all my food sensitivities. I had s tool test from enterolab 2 yrs ago and my anti-gliadin abs were slightly elevated and other GI tests concluded leaky gut, colonic inflammation and multiple food allergies.

I went "gluten light" for a year thinking it was just an intolerance and initially showed some improvement, but not for long. I went for a follow up with my doc 4 months ago and he ran a new test from Metametrix and it showed that i had some bacterial overgrowth, candida and gluten antibodies were high. i have been addressing the candida and focusing on gut repair, but the whole gluten thing still baffles me..i dont know if i have celiac and its too late to do a gluten challenge and get the right tests.

does anyone have suggestions on what i should do? my fear is that i do have celiac and also that i dont and am being super strict for nothing, however, avoiding gluten completely will definitely allow my gut to heal im sure.

Also, can non-celiac gluten intolerance cause the same symptoms as celiac and also cause leaky gut?

Lastly, would there be any benefit to getting an endoscopy now?

thanks so much for listening and any feedback is appreciated

S

Hi Sammy and welcome! It seems like since you have so many doubts about whether or not you have celiac it might be worth it for you to do the gluten challenge and then go in for a biopsy.
