Well, we got back home yesterday from our trip to Disneyland. It is true what everyone says - Dieneyland is a great place to be GF. My son and I had GF pizza and cheeseburgers and they tasted great. Our hotel even had a hot breakfast every morning that had several things that were safe for us to eat. We had a kitchen in our room so we were able to cook a GF dinner.
Don't let anyone tell you that Disneyland is a vacation, though. That place is a lot of work! 10 - 12 hours a day in the park can really tire this pregnant lady out. I will post a pic or two when we sort through them. We took over 500 pictures.
I have missed reading everyone's posts, but see that you have all been busy while I have been away! Lots of posts to catch up on... _________________ -Colleen

Colleen,
Glad to hear it. We are planning a trip (one of these years) to Disneyland, and I was a bit worried about it. I have a very "selective" GF six year old. Did you stay at a hotel on the grounds or nearby. I mean, was it a Disneyland hotel or like a no-tell motel, you know what I mean?
Did you have to pre-order GF food, did you have to go to special restaurants on the grounds?
I need all the details when you're not so tired.
Thanks,
Linda
PS. "selective" = picky |

Barbara June posted a great list of where to eat in this link http://www.celiacforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=1960&highlight= I printed it off and carried it with me. We ate at Club Buzz and Red Rocketts Pizza Port. Just walk up to the counter, ask for the manager and tell him/her that you need your food GF. No sweat. I think some of the fancier restaurants requre reservations and 24 hours notice. We did not find much of anything to eat at California Adventure, so we spent very little time there.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites, which is about 1/2 mile away but the shuttle stopped right outside the door. One thing put a little kink in my GF cooking plans was that there was no oven in the kitchen - only cooktop/micro/fridge/dishwasher. So we had to do some improvising since I couldn't bake anything like I had planned. I was really glad we brought GF bread and a toaster for when we needed it. There was a grocery store about a mile away to stock up on perishables.
Overall it was a fun trip, and it was nice to know that there were things we could eat. _________________ -Colleen

| Do you have any complaints about using the shuttle? I have spoke with a few people that have stayed outside the park and have had problems. |
