For the longest time there have been no updates on this site. I went to check it today...low and behold...info on CD support groups. One of the topics discussed is membership fees. I was going to ask those here about membership fees...isn't it ironic...

We don't charge membership fees. At each meeting we have 1 or 2 raffles which include a range of GF products and some filler items. Most of the time the product has been donated. We sold 105 $1 raffle tickets. Normally the proceeds cover all of each meetings costs. Much of the time we sock some away for topics that will cost more...like last week's $123 Elisa tests or a beer tasting, etc. |

The Calgary Celiac Assoc. in partnership with Canadian Celiac Assoc. charge $40/year for membership. Newsletters about 4 times a year from each organization. I know when I pay the $40 to Calgary, that it only keeps about 15 and the other 25 goes to national. The meetings aren't very often, but they try to get the celiac kids together 3 or 4 times in the summer. Calgary Celiac Assoc. also puts on a GF camp for kids for a week in the summer, I think it's 1/2 hour - 45 min. outside of town.
There's also a giant Stampede breakfast every July. Pancakes, sausages, etc. _________________ Mom of Ty (he's nine) who was diagnosed by bloodwork June 2005, biopsy August 11, 2005, notified on & started GF August 18, 2005 |
