Help me please, I need food suggestion's to pack and keep in my room. The hotel, Double Tree in Aurora, CO is providing the breakfast and lunches and we are on our own for dinner.
This is a new job and I would like to keep it. My boss hasn't asked about dietary needs yet and I will bring it up as the session gets closer-late July. However, if anyone for the Aurora area has any tips on places to eat or shop I would really appreciate it. I'm not sure how much I can pack to take on the plane!
Thanks for your help- _________________ Sarah

We went on a trip in May and our family stayed in hotels that included breakfast. Usually there is fruit, juces and coffee - yeah, that was about all I could eat, and hard boiled eggs. I brought Mesa Sunrise flakes mixed with nuts & dried cranberries. Every morning I brought down my container & tossed them in the bowls provided and poured the milk they had there on it.
Travelling with younger kids we always have food & snacks anyway, and now we also do because of me ! I carry a lunch bag with a shoulder strap the way most women carry a purse, everywhere I go.
Lunches will be harder. Pack small tuna tins, Thai kitchen soup packages, whatever. Pack a lunch in your hotel room. Ask the kitchen about GF options too (although it's hard to control).
As for your boss, simply tell him/her that you are a celiac and need to eat a gluten free diet - that you are just letting him/her know why you are bringing food in. Tell your boss you will not be a very productive or receptive employee if you are ill from eating food your doctor has told you will damage your body. Good luck ! |

Ive been meaning to respond to this for several days - sorry!
You will be pretty far out east, but Whole Foods and Natural Grocers/Vitamin Cottage have multiple locations so you should be able to get to one near you. Deby's Gluten Free Cafe and Bakery has prepared items to go (frozen or fresh) as well as sit down service. It would be a straight shot west from your hotel. I don't know of any GF restaurants in Aurora, but there are several places in Denver and the surrounding area that have GF menus. I know this topic has come up on this and other forums, so the info is out there. SHort on time but pm me for more info. _________________ Nance
