Has anyone tried Glutino bagels recently? I used to love them, but I just bought a bag last week, and they were one of the worst GF products I've ever eaten. I don't know if they had to change things when they went fully automated with their production or what the problem is. They don't even look the same as they used to. The texture is awful, and the flavor and smell remind me of instant milk powder. I understand that GF products cost more, but it really steams me to pay $7.25 for something that's inedible. I didn't like them last time I had them, but figured it was a fluke and that I should give them another chance. I really hate saying anything negative about a company, but I'm curious if any of you have noticed a change. _________________ Steph |

I'm not sure I ever had the old ones because I've only been eating them for the last 5 months or so. But I don't mind them. I totally agree about the smell-something is weird. I think my expectations were so low that when I toasted it with cream cheese it was pretty good! _________________ Rachel |

They did change recently but maybe my tastebuds are shot because they still taste alright to me, for a GF product. The texture is very different than the old one's. I use them mostly with hamburgs so maybe that masks the taste. _________________ Mike |

I just discovered the cinnamon raisin ones at my local Whole Foods and they've been good...but I've been toasting them and cream-cheesing them.
I hear Kinnickinik's bagels are fantastic but I haven't ordered any yet. |

Oh that's too bad. I had to give them up over a year ago when all the other allergies cropped up. I agree they used to be good, sorry to hear they've gone down hill. _________________ Cheers!

I had the cinnamon raisin and they were good. Just a note however, they do not come pre-sliced I learned the hard way. So now when I buy them direct I slice them before freezing so that I can toast them when I want them. _________________ CD by Biopsy 3/25/88 |

The Glutino bagels are unsliced and frozen but I microwave them for 1 minute and then slice, toast them. _________________ Mike |
